Being one of the most popular social media marketing tools, Instagram is always in talks due to its excessive usage. Recently, the most popular stalking tool which was responsible for turning laymen into the best FBI agents has now been eliminated from its recent update on Instagram. This has invited mixed reactions from its followers. Essentially, this following tab which has been removed gave a report on their friends’ activities as to whom they follow, who followed them back, which of their posts were liked and so on. Along with offering new features in the create tab, this new change is a server-side change which denotes that this update was implemented without the app actually requiring an update. Hence, all you folks hoping to savor the following tab by avoiding an update of the app will be disappointed as well.
The product head Vishal Shah was seen giving a heads-up to the general public on the same day saying, “Today we’re removing the ‘Following’ tab on Instagram, which was created to help people discover new posts and accounts their friends engage with. We’re always trying to stay focused and keep Instagram simple, and so we celebrate launches and unshipping.”
This following tab was introduced on Instagram in the year 2011. The combined reasons behind its shutdown are widely predicted to be its lack of knowledge and its lack of usage as well. Informally coined as the “stalking tab” amongst the notorious stalking committee on Instagram, it was responsible to bring transparency in our digital life.
In August 2019, many active Instagram users were seen complaining about Reddit cribbing that their following tab has disappeared. Many estimated that it is a technical bug which will be fixed later on with an update. However, that is clearly not the case.
Followed by the official announcement, Twitter and Instagram broke into a string of memes and videos, as is its organic mechanism. Now, Instagram users can only track their own activity which quite frankly will be responsible for many people’s stalking desires being puffed in the air.
