Myntra Ads: what a fashion brand buys and what to measure

Written for brands advertising on Myntra, not for shoppers hunting offers — because in apparel, paid visibility is only worth what survives the return window.

Quick answer: Myntra Ads is Myntra's retail media business: the paid placements a fashion, beauty or lifestyle brand buys inside the Myntra app to get its products seen. Access runs through Myntra's monetisation and partnerships side and the seller portal. In apparel, judge it on returns-adjusted net orders, never gross orders.

What Myntra Ads is — and who this page is for

If you came here for discount codes, this is not that page.

This is the brand side. You sell fashion, beauty, footwear or home on Myntra, and you want to know what paid visibility there is actually worth.

Myntra Ads is a named business inside Myntra, not a loose set of banners. Myntra has pitched it as a retail media proposition to advertisers since its first "Ramp-Talk" advertiser event, covered by exchange4media on 29 January 2024, where Myntra described product ads shown alongside shopper search results plus video, poll and rich content formats.

It sits inside a wider category. The mechanics shared by every marketplace ad network — the auction, first-party shopper data, shelf placement — are covered in our guide to retail media in India. This page does not repeat them. It covers what changes when the marketplace sells clothes.

The money is real. Myntra's advertising income reached ₹914.5 crore in FY25, up 28% year on year, per Storyboard18's reading of its filings (15 September 2025). Brands are already paying for this shelf.

GROSS ORDERS ARE NOT REVENUEIn apparel, a sale settles weeks lateras reported₹1,800,000ROAS 9.0after 32% returns₹1,224,000ROAS 6.1₹38,400 reverse logistics added to spend₹1,224,000ROAS 5.1The reported figure overstates by roughly 43% on these hypothetical inputs. Same root cause as the size gap.Return rate, AOV and reverse-logistics cost are labelled assumptions. Myntra publishes no rate card.

Gross orders are not revenue.

What you can buy, and where it appears

Myntra does not publish an open rate card or a public self-serve console the way a search engine does. In practice there are two routes: documented seller-side ad products in Myntra's own partner tooling, and negotiated brand placements agreed with Myntra's monetisation and partnerships team.

Myntra's own Seller University carries a Product Listing Ads (PLA) page under its marketing section, alongside a Brand Tag page — the clearest public confirmation of what a seller or brand can run without a bespoke deal. (Checked 19 October 2026.)

What it isWhere it appearsBest used forBuying route

Shoppable content and creator surfacesGlamstream and creator storefrontsCreating demand, not just catching itNegotiated

That last row is the newest. Myntra launched Glamstream, a shoppable content destination with interactive product trays inside each piece of content, per Walmart's corporate newsroom (29 July 2025). By 25 September 2026 exchange4media reported Myntra citing 7 million users engaging with creator content there, with Gen Z at 52% of views.

Because half of this is negotiated, anyone who quotes you a fixed Myntra CPC or a guaranteed return on ad spend is guessing. Myntra does not publish those numbers, and neither will we.

Returns change the maths: in apparel, a sale is not a sale yet

This is the part most pages on this keyword skip entirely.

A click that becomes an order on a fashion marketplace has not finished. The return window is still open. Return Prime data reported by Apparel Resources on 31 July 2024 put 30–35% of clothing and footwear bought online in India as returned, against 17.6% across all online products — and attributed almost 40% of returns to size concerns.

So a dashboard reporting gross attributed orders is reporting an intention, not a result.

Working through the maths, with clearly hypothetical inputs — your own numbers will differ:

Input (hypothetical)Value
Ad spend₹2,00,000
Attributed gross orders1,000
Average order value₹1,800
Gross revenue₹18,00,000
Return rate applied32%
Net orders after returns680
Net revenue₹12,24,000
Reverse logistics at ₹120 per return₹38,400

Gross return on ad spend reads 9.0. Returns-adjusted, it is 6.1. Carry the ₹38,400 of reverse logistics as campaign cost and it falls to 5.1.

Nothing changed in the campaign. Only the honesty of the numbers did. A 9.0 that is really a 5.1 overstates performance by roughly 43% — and budgets get set on it.

What to measure instead:

  • Returns-adjusted net orders, dated after the return window closes — not the day the order lands.
  • A deliberate reporting lag. If your return window is 14 or 30 days, a week-one figure is incomplete by design. Report provisional and settled numbers separately.
  • Return rate by SKU and by size, never a blended brand average. One badly fitting style can carry a whole account's returns.
  • Contribution after reverse logistics and after the share of returned units you cannot resell at full price. This is contribution margin thinking applied to a marketplace line item.
  • Net new buyers, wherever the platform exposes them, rather than orders alone.

Lag and windows are a general measurement problem too, not only a Myntra one — our page on how to set attribution windows covers the rest.

Being listed is not the same as being buyable

Paid visibility pushes a shopper to a product page. If the sizes that shopper wears are out of stock, you have paid to show a dead end.

Size and variant depth behaves like a conversion input, not a supply-chain footnote:

  • A style missing its fastest-selling sizes converts far worse than its click-through rate suggests. Check your own size curve rather than assuming which sizes those are — it differs by category and by region.
  • Marketplace ranking and recommendation systems respond to conversion. A style bleeding sessions onto unavailable sizes earns less organic surface, so you end up paying more for the same visibility.
  • Returns and sizing are one problem seen twice. If a chart runs small you absorb the return; if you de-list the size you absorb the lost sale.
  • Check availability before you raise a bid. Bidding harder on a style missing half its size curve is the most expensive mistake on the platform.

The rule we apply: no style enters a paid push unless its top three selling sizes are in stock with enough cover to last the campaign.

Plan against the sale calendar, not the month

Fashion marketplaces do not run on even monthly demand. They run on events.

Myntra's End of Reason Sale is biannual, and exchange4media reported on 30 April 2026 that it usually falls in late May or early June and again in early December. The festive window carries its own flagship event on top.

Three planning consequences follow:

  1. Inventory and creative lock before the event, not during it. Participation decisions and size buys sit weeks ahead of the sale date.
  2. Competition concentrates. Every brand in your category wants the same placements in the same fortnight, so expect to pay more for the same slot. We will not put a figure on that, because Myntra publishes none and any figure you see quoted is invented.
  3. The quiet weeks are where efficiency lives. Discovery tests, new-style validation and new-customer pushes cost less to run when the auction is thin.

Planning the festive quarter across every channel is a bigger job — see our festive e-commerce playbook.

DH's own view: how we treat marketplace-reported performance in apparel

In our own work on apparel and lifestyle accounts, we treat marketplace-reported numbers as a directional signal about the auction, not as a measure of the business. Three rules we apply:

  • The platform's number is an input, not the verdict. Every marketplace ROAS gets re-stated as returns-adjusted before it reaches a client deck, with the return-rate assumption written on the same slide.
  • Two reporting dates, never one. A provisional read during the campaign, a settled read after the return window closes. Only the settled one moves budget.
  • We do not add marketplace revenue to site revenue. Platforms claim the same shopper. Stack claimed conversions across Myntra, a horizontal marketplace and your own site and you get a number larger than your bank balance.

We are not publishing client results here and will not imply any. These are process rules, not proof.

Where claimed conversions overlap, the only clean answer is a holdout — our page on running incrementality tests sets one up.

Marketplace spend versus building owned demand

If you sell on Myntra and elsewhere, the real question is not "does Myntra Ads work". It is how much of your budget should rent attention on someone else's shelf.

Question to askLean marketplaceLean owned demand
Who holds the customer data? You accept that the platform doesYou need first-party data for repeat purchase
What are you solving?Share of a search that already happensDemand that does not exist yet
What is your margin?Thick enough to absorb returns plus ad costThin — a rented click hurts twice
What is your catalogue?Deep size curves, proven sellersFew styles, still being validated
What does failure look like?Visibility stops the day spend stopsSlower to start, then compounds

Usually both are right at once. Myntra Ads buys presence where fashion intent already sits. Your own site and audience are the only place repeat-purchase economics improve. That split belongs in a written channel plan, not a monthly impulse — our D2C channel planning guide handles it.

Two neighbours worth reading once. The vertical-marketplace-with-private-labels tension is the same argument we made for beauty in our Nykaa advertising piece. The horizontal version — broad categories, looser shopper intent — is in our Flipkart advertising breakdown.

What better measurement gets you

Once your Myntra reporting is returns-adjusted and size-aware, three things get easier.

You stop over-funding styles that look brilliant for fourteen days. You find the styles whose net performance was always strong and were never scaled. And you can argue for marketplace budget with a number that survives a conversation with finance.

That is slower than copying a dashboard. It is also the difference between a marketplace channel you control and one that quietly controls your planning calendar.

Key takeaways: Myntra Ads mixes documented seller-side products such as Product Listing Ads with negotiated brand placements. No public rate card exists. Measure returns-adjusted net orders after the return window, not gross orders. Check size availability before raising any bid. Plan around the biannual sale calendar, and never stack claimed conversions across platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Is Myntra Ads self-serve or managed?

Both, in parts. Myntra's own Seller University documents seller-side ad products including Product Listing Ads, which a brand or seller runs itself. Banners, video formats and content placements are agreed with Myntra's monetisation and partnerships team. Ask your Myntra category contact which routes your account currently has access to, because access differs by business model.

What does advertising on Myntra cost?

There is no public rate card, and we will not quote a CPC or a return on ad spend that Myntra has not published. Budget instead against returns-adjusted net revenue, so the spend is judged on what you keep. For context, agency management fees in India for performance marketing typically run ₹25,000–₹1,00,000 a month, excluding ad spend itself.

How quickly does Myntra advertising show results?

Paid visibility is fast — it begins when spend begins and stops when spend stops. The honest read is slower. In apparel you should wait for the return window to close before treating a result as settled, so build a reporting lag at least as long as that window into how you review and fund campaigns.

Should I advertise on Myntra and other marketplaces at once?

Often yes, if your margin absorbs returns plus ad cost on both. The discipline is in reporting: never add the two platforms' claimed conversions together, because both will claim the same shopper. Use a holdout test to find out what each channel actually added rather than trusting stacked platform numbers.

Does advertising on Myntra improve my organic ranking there?

Treat it as indirect at best. Marketplace ranking and recommendation systems respond to conversion and availability. Paid traffic that converts can support those signals; paid traffic landing on styles that are out of stock in the sizes shoppers want does not. Fix the size curve before you buy more visibility.
