Tip: after pasting on your page, validate with Google's Rich Results Test. Empty fields are left out automatically.
How to use this schema generator
- Pick a schema type — choose the one that matches the page you're marking up (a homepage is usually Organization or Website; a shop page is Product; a blog post is Article).
- Fill in the fields — type your real details. Anything you leave blank is simply left out of the code, so you only ship what you have.
- Copy the JSON-LD — hit "Copy code". Keep the <script> wrapper toggle on if you're pasting straight into a page; turn it off if your tool wants raw JSON.
- Paste it on the page — add it via Rank Math, Yoast, a code-injection plugin, or a Custom HTML block on the exact page it describes.
- Validate — run the URL through Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org Validator to confirm it's error-free.
What schema markup actually does
Search engines read your visible text, but they guess at what it means. Schema markup removes the guesswork. It labels the page in a language Google and AI engines understand — "this is a local business," "this is a product priced at ₹999," "these are five FAQs."
That clarity earns two things: rich results (star ratings, FAQ drop-downs, sitelinks) that make your listing bigger and more clickable, and a cleaner signal for AI answer engines deciding what to summarise and cite. On a newer site, it's one of the few on-page levers you fully control.
Which schema types matter most
| Schema type | Use it on | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Organization | Homepage / about | Establishes your brand entity, logo and profiles for Google's Knowledge Panel. |
| LocalBusiness | Contact / location pages | Feeds Maps and local packs — name, address, phone, hours, geo. |
| Article | Blog posts & guides | Author, dates and headline for news/article eligibility. |
| Product | Product / service pages | Price, availability and ratings for shopping-style rich results. |
| FAQPage | Any page with a real FAQ | Can show expandable questions directly in search and get quoted by AI. |
| BreadcrumbList | All deep pages | Shows a clean path in results instead of a raw URL. |
Start with Organization and Website on your homepage, then add Article to every blog post and FAQPage wherever you have genuine questions and answers. That covers most of the impressions on a growing site.
Frequently asked questions
What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data — extra code you add to a page that tells search engines and AI engines what the page is about. Written in JSON-LD, it labels things like your business, an article, a product or an FAQ so they can be understood, shown as rich results and cited more easily.
Is JSON-LD better than Microdata for schema?
Yes. Google recommends JSON-LD because it sits in a single script block in the head or body and keeps your structured data separate from your visible HTML. It is easier to add, edit and validate than Microdata or RDFa, which are woven into your page tags. This tool outputs JSON-LD.
Where do I add the schema code on my website?
Paste the generated script into the head section of the specific page, or anywhere in the body. On WordPress you can add it with an SEO plugin like Rank Math or Yoast, a code-injection plugin, or a Custom HTML block. Use one schema block per page and keep it on the page it describes.
Does schema markup improve my Google rankings?
Schema markup is not a direct ranking factor, but it helps in practice. It can earn rich results like star ratings, FAQs and sitelinks that lift click-through, and it makes your content clearer for Google and AI engines to interpret and cite. Better understanding and more clicks support rankings indirectly.
How do I test my schema markup after adding it?
Use Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org Validator. Paste your URL or the JSON-LD code and they flag errors and warnings. After the page is live, check Search Console's Enhancements reports to confirm Google is reading your structured data without issues.
