Best PPC Tools for Indian Advertisers (2026)
Google's own free tools cover more than most advertisers realise. Here's what they don't — and the real, current pricing on the paid tools worth adding once you outgrow them.
Most "best PPC tools" lists open with a paid platform. We're opening with the free ones, because for a single Google Ads account, they're often genuinely enough.
Google Ads Editor, Keyword Planner, Ads Scripts, Tag Manager and Looker Studio are all free, all official, and together cover bulk campaign editing, keyword research, rule-based automation, conversion tracking and reporting — the five things most advertisers assume they need to pay for.
Where paid tools earn their place is specific: competitor visibility you can't get natively, cross-account reporting once you're managing more than one client or brand, and landing-page behaviour data Google Ads itself doesn't show you. This guide covers both layers — what's free and worth setting up first, and what to add once a specific gap shows up. It sits alongside our performance marketing guide, which covers strategy; this page is about the tools that execute it.
The free tools nobody should skip
Before spending anything, these five are free, official, and cover most of what a single-account advertiser needs:
- Google Ads Editor. Desktop app for bulk campaign edits, offline changes and multi-account management — the fastest way to make large-scale changes without clicking through the web UI one campaign at a time.
- Google Keyword Planner. Built into your Ads account. Keyword volume and CPC estimates for initial research and budget forecasting — the same tool most paid research tools are cross-checked against.
- Google Ads Scripts. JavaScript-based automation for bid rules, budget alerts and custom reporting, at no extra cost beyond your Ads account access.
- Google Tag Manager. Free, native tag and conversion tracking for Google Ads, Meta Pixel and GA4 — get this right before adding any paid reporting tool on top of it.
- Google Looker Studio. Unlimited free dashboards connecting to Google Ads, GA4 and Sheets. Covers standard PPC reporting; the paid "Looker Studio Pro" tier is for organisation-level features most advertisers won't need.
A properly set up free stack — Ads Editor, Keyword Planner, Ads Scripts, Tag Manager, Looker Studio — is a fully functional zero-cost toolkit for a single Google Ads account. Our own ROAS calculator, CPM calculator and CTR calculator are free additions worth bookmarking alongside them.

Pricing sourced from vendor and aggregator pages dated August 2026 (see leading comment for links) — SaaS pricing changes often, confirm the live figure before budgeting. All are billed in USD with no India-specific tier found; factor in forex movement and check with your accountant on GST treatment of foreign SaaS subscriptions.
Optmyzr: bid automation and audits
Optmyzr's case is depth of automation — rule-based bid and budget changes, structured PPC audits, and Shopping/Performance Max management, built for accounts too large to manage by hand in the native UI.
Pricing starts at $299/month for Essentials, $389/month for Premium, both usage-based on ad spend with roughly a 30% discount on annual billing. That's a real cost for a small single-account advertiser — this is squarely an agency or multi-account tool, not a first purchase for a business running one modest campaign.
SpyFu and Semrush: seeing what competitors are running
SpyFu is the cheapest way into competitor PPC visibility — Basic at $39/month shows a competitor's historical Google Ads keywords and ad copy, useful before you write your own campaign from scratch.
Semrush's Advertising Research toolkit does similar competitor work but bundled inside its broader $139.95/month Pro plan, which also covers SEO, content and social — worth it if you're already using Semrush for organic work, overkill if PPC research is the only reason you'd buy it. Our own best SEO tools guide covers Semrush's SEO side in more depth.
Supermetrics: reporting across accounts
Once you're reporting on more than one ad account — multiple clients, multiple brands — manually exporting CSVs from Google Ads and Meta Ads every week stops scaling. Supermetrics pulls that data automatically into Sheets, Looker Studio or a BI tool.
Starter pricing is $55/month ($44/month billed annually), which is real money for a solo advertiser managing one account — Looker Studio's free native connectors cover that case well enough on their own. Supermetrics earns its cost once you're consolidating data across accounts a Google-native connector doesn't cleanly bridge.
Hotjar: what happens after the click
None of the tools above touch what happens once a visitor lands on your page — that's Hotjar's job. Heatmaps and session recordings show where visitors actually click, scroll and drop off, which is often where a campaign's real problem lives, not in the ad itself.
Observe Plus starts at $39/month. Worth adding once your traffic volume is high enough to generate meaningful session data — a landing page with a handful of daily visitors won't produce a useful heatmap yet. Running a structured audit first, using our own PPC audit checklist, often surfaces the landing-page issue before a heatmap tool is even needed.
What about GST and billing in India?
Google itself charges 18% GST on Google Ads spend in India (split as 9% CGST + 9% SGST intra-state, or 18% IGST inter-state), a rule in place since 1 July 2017. A GSTIN is mandatory for business accounts and optional for individual accounts — without one, GST won't appear on your invoice and you can't claim input tax credit.
Most of the third-party tools in this guide (Optmyzr, SpyFu, Semrush, Ahrefs, Supermetrics, Hotjar) bill in USD from outside India, with no confirmed India-specific pricing tier. Whether reverse-charge GST applies to a foreign SaaS subscription is a genuine, live compliance question — worth a five-minute conversation with your accountant rather than an assumption either way.
What a lean stack actually looks like
For a small Indian business running one Google Ads account: the five free Google tools above, full stop. That's a functional, zero-cost stack that covers editing, research, automation, tracking and reporting.
For an agency or a business managing several accounts: add Optmyzr or Supermetrics for cross-account work, SpyFu or Semrush for competitor research, and Hotjar once there's enough traffic to make session data useful. Add tools one gap at a time — buying the full stack on day one is the single most common way to overspend on PPC tooling before the campaigns themselves are even proven.
